I am having some fun with creating this years theme for school!! It is actually a garden theme but I am so in love with owls lately that I decided to make them my theme for the classroom. I am sure I can fit the owls in with some gardening fun as well!
I cut the banners from the Birthday Bash cartridge at 5 inches, handmade the rosettes (yes I know there is a cartridge for Rosettes and I actually do have it but I really enjoy making them!) I used the circle scallop punch from Stampin' up and the Mickey Font cartridge (welded on the gypsy) for the words (BBES A Great Place to Grow). I found some material at JoAnn Fabrics called Stacking Owls which is now out of print :( but was able to get my hands on more yards from a store in Delaware who was gracious enough to send it to my local store!!!!!
I am making more items and have finally gotten my crafting groove back! Have you ever felt like you were just not able to come up with those crafting ideas? Lately I have had my mind on the beach, pool, and spending valuable, precious time with my boys this summer. This past weekend I was able to scrap and craft with my buddies and feel like my mojo is finally back again. Whoot Whoot!!!
I am working on a very special project that I hope to share with you over the next month or so. I am so excited about it and cannot wait!!!!
Have a super day and I will post the rest of the classroom projects this week!!!!!

very cute banner!!! I love it!! I am loving the rosettes on it too! I am still debating the theme I want. I know I want it to be stars with Peachy Keen faces but not sure if I want it colorful, or just a couple colors LOL! I can't wait to see what else you make!

Hi Kim! Thanks for the kind words of inspiration!!! ;) A designer told me once that when you begin a project work with colors in a set of 3's, 5's or 7-meaning use an odd number of colors when working with a design :) This has always helped me when choosing patterns, etc. I love how the blue, green, and orange go together for this banner. Good luck with your theme-I can't wait to see what projects you do!!!! Please share them :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I just Love your Banner! I have been wanting to make one for my Craftroom and it's decorated in Owls! Thanks for the Inspiration! Just became a follower of yours. :0)

Love the Owl's! My craft room is in an owl theme and what I have going in my classroom this year too so far. Just put up owl fabric on a bulletin board today and then was hopping in the Educator forum and realized I hadn't visited your blog in a while. LOVE the projects you have going! :) Giving me some inspiration and idea's to use in addition... It's the year of Owls! :)
