Aladdin thank you card

Every year students at our school put on a play.  This year it is Aladdin and we had a parent who was kind enough to volunteer to make all of the casts costumes!  The music director/teacher asked me if I would create a thank you card to show how appreciative we were.  I used the Disney Dreams Come True cartridge for the cutouts.  I will admit, the layering was a little tricky and the eyes were difficult to create.  I am glad that I cut large images -I am not so sure how they would have turned out if I cut them smaller.  I had a little trouble trying to figure out how to create an unusual size (bigger than the norm) card.  I remembered that I purchased a DCWV 12 by 24 primary color paper pack so I chose the deep purple color and folded it in have to make the 12 by 12 card.  It turned out pretty good!  Here are the materials used for the project:

Materials:
Dreams Come True cartridge (Jasmine and Aladdin image cut at 7 inches, the genie was cut at 5 inches and the title "Aladdin" was also cut at 5 inches, the image inside of the card was cut at 11 1/2 inches )
DCWV Shimmer paper pack
DCWV 12 by 24 primary paper pack
adhesive

I'll let you know how the play goes this week-the students get a preview on Tuesday!!  Have a super great day.

Confirmation Card

Happy Sunday everyone!!!
My girlfriend (named Wendy also!) came over and cranked out 30 cards for her daughters confirmation ceremony and gathering.  I really love how her card turned out so I wanted to share it with you!  She used the following materials:
Wedding Solution cartridge -for the cross (cut at 2 inches)
George Basic Shapes-for the ovals (the oval on the outside was cut at 3 inches-there is an oval on the inside which was cut at 5 inches)
Cuttlebug folder-Birds and Swirls
Celebration ribbon found at Michaels (which sold  out fast!)
Martha Stewart glitter-used on the cross
two-way glue pen
I-Rock tool and gems for the ultimate BLING!

This picture does not do the card justice-it is so beautiful!  It is simple but elegant and PERFECT for the occasion.  We had a lot of fun working on them.  I have known my bestest buddy Wendy since I was 11 years old!  (I am not going to share my age with you but I will tell you that I have know her for a very long time LOL!)  I am fortunate to have her in my life and also sharing this wonderful hobby with her makes our relationship even better!  I hope you are enjoying your Sunday and spending time with family and loves ones!!  Stay tuned this week for some super cool projects :)

I AM IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in total LOVE with my newest cartridge!!!!  The Cricut Everyday cartridge has to be my ultimate favorite now!!!!  Sorry Create a Critter...you have taken a back seat LOL!  This cartridge is truly for the Cricut lover!  It has an unlimited amount of images that include every machine that Provo Craft has invented, the word phrases are out of this world and the crafting that can be accomplished with this cartridge is unlimited!!  Ideas and more ideas have been swirling through my head since I had the privilege of opening up this cartridge.  A group of friends and I attend a few scrapbooking conventions (Creating Keepsakes convention in Valley Forge, PA and the Great American Scrapbooking convention located in Chantilly, VA)  I want my scrappin' buddy Carol to make t-shirts for us and this cartridge along with her Yudu machine will just do the trick!!

I made this project for a teacher friend of mine who I work with.  She shares the love and passion for the Cricut just as much as I do LOL!  I cut the name plate (on page 63) at 10 inches and the phrase (on page 59) at 10 inches.  Added some ribbon that coordinated with the cardstock and it turned out to be a super cute gift!!!  I will share more projects with you using this cartridge soon!  Hope everyone is having a super great day  :)

Testing treats for my students!!

This week and next week my students will be taking the Maryland State Assessment Tests (MSA) for Math and Reading.  I like to keep their spirits up and encourage them to do their best!!  I created these little treats using the Everyday Paper Doll cartridge using the farmer overalls.  I used the Real Dial Size button and cut each one at 6 inches.  A white gel pen was used to write, "Do your best on the test SMARTIE PANTS", blue 12 by 12 cardstock and of course..... the Smarties candies which my third graders love!  (Walmart had a large bag of Smarties for $2.00 )  I was able to get 8 overalls per 12 by 12 page and used mono adhesive to attach the candy.  These are super easy to make!!  I know my students are going to "rock" the test!!!  Have a great week everyone!!!!!!!!!!

I am Lucky Because....bulletin board

Sorry it has been so long since my last post!  I have been under the weather lately and just can't seem to snap out of it.  I am looking forward to warmer days and summer vacation with my boys!  Anyway, here is a simple and easy bulletin board that I created for a writing piece my students completed.  I had them write reasons why they felt they were "lucky".  I cut the leprechaun out at 11 1/2 inches, the pot of gold was cut out at 9 inches and the word phrase "end of the rainbow" was cut at 7 inches.  I used the Simply Charmed cartridge for everything except for the shamrocks-I used the Designer Calendar cartridge for those (cut at 4, 5 and 6 inches).  The only thing left is to create the actual rainbow....I'll add it to my long list of things to complete this week!  I hope everyone has their own rainbow and a pot of gold by the end of this week!!!!!
